Below is a notice sent by Wiltshire Council; it would be good to hear any ideas that residents and the community may have. Do contact us at or via the website contact form here

We need town and parish councils throughout Wiltshire to nominate any grassed areas or public open spaces that could be designated as wildflower meadow, for reduced cutting or left for rewilding. This initiative is in response to an increased level of interest in improving existing flora and fauna to benefit wildlife, and will give you an opportunity to improve biodiversity and increase the aesthetic appeal of your area. Any proposed location for Wild About Wiltshire must meet the following criteria:
- Area must be on Wiltshire Council land
- Be within a 30/40mph speed limit if on a verge
- Does not compromise the safety or unreasonably hinder the passage of highways/amenity users
- Does not obstruct junction sight lines
- Consultations are had with any affected properties within the vicinity of the area
- Co-ordinate with the plans of any statutory undertakers who have assets within the area
- Must be mainly flat and directly accessible to cutting equipment
- Have an area to compost if required
